Beautiful, Graham. I like the bookends and birds bathing best – some unintentional alliteration.

Thanks Karen. Alas I’m unable to come up with any alliteration as good as yours!

These are so good Graham. The birds bathing, the butterflies but the Manta Ray is the best

What a dumb question I asked. After a little research I figured out that the yellow birds were warbling white eyes and the red bird a yellow-billed cardinal. Impossible that they are a family so they just must be good friends!

No dumb questions Judy! With both species the males and females are similar, but I didn’t know that the white-eyes have been reclassified into two species, the warbling white-eyes and Swinhoe’s white-eye. I guess that happened in 2018!

And believe they were not indigenous to Hawaii. Wonder how they got there? Jumped a ship, perhaps, or windblown.

Deliberately introduced in the 1920s to control insects. On balance not a success story and currently a spreader of avian malaria, to which it has resistance, while most native bird don’t.

What a treat to be able to share in your beautiful life. In the bird trio, is the male red, the female and the chick yellow? And does the color denote their sex? I thought the butterflies were large flowers at first. Gorgeous.
