The bees are back

The Mock Orange next to the house is in full bloom and the bees have found it, though not in the numbers they used to. In the past, I would hear the bees before seeing them. Still, it’s always a pleasure to watch them industriously flitting from flower to flower, collecting pollen and nectar.

Golden Shower tree

A Golden Shower tree at Mauna Lani, Hawaii

I saw this Golden Shower tree (Cassia fistula) on the way to go swimming at Mauna Lani and, afterwards, went back to take photos. The mass of yellow flowers is typical for the tree. This species was crossed with the Pink and White Shower tree to produce the Rainbow Shower Tree.
