The third of my rainbow colors in response to Becky’s April Squares challenge theme of ‘Bright.’ (See more responses here.)
Today’s rainbow was taken from Kohala Mountain Road and looks down towards the southern edge of Waimea.
In the middle, a bright yellow saffron finch perches on a bare branch of a plumeria. There were zero leaves on this tree and only a few budding flowers, such as the one next to the finch.
And finally, the yellow robe of the painted statue of King Kamehameha I in Kapaau.
The tree photos complement each other so well!

The yellow of the coat is amazing – I realise this is a statue, but were the coats originally this bright? Love to know what the original natural dyes were

Well, there’s a story about this statue, its history and appearance, which you can find at https://grahamsisland.com/2018/06/17/king-kamehameha-statues/. It’s really quite an interesting tale.

The little bird looks like an Easter chick at first glance (I hope that’s not insulting to that pretty bird!)

It does have that look about it. It doubt anything would be upset being compared to something as cute as an Easter chick. I wouldn’t be!

I don’t know what you look like but now I’m hoping someone has called you that and imagining yellow hair! Boris Johnson style, perhaps?

I’d like to think my hair isn’t as silly as Boris’s, but that might just be my vanity!

Love that bright yellow of king Kamehameha, Graham. I’m experimenting with liking and commenting from the WP reader rather than from my outlook email, which requires me to log in each and every time. Grrr. Can’t wait to get internet. Marsha is hosting one of more time for me this Sunday. After that, I will use the wifi Hotspot from my phone. Thank goodness for my new unlimited data plan and a strong signal from Verizon. I miss you all!

You’re still without internet then. I hope they get you hooked up soon. I saw Marsha was hosting again (and also your April 25 theme – don’t know what I’m going to find for that!). That’s very nice of her. I hope the move in is going well.

For 4/25, I suppose you could show us more of your pet geckos, Graham 😁

If only I didn’t have one lined up for this week’s theme!
