This week’s Sunday Stills challenge theme is ‘Walk in the Park.’ See more responses here. These photos are from my last hike at what is officially known as Pu’u Wa’awa’a Cinder Cone State Park. The hike took place under heavy skies, but the clouds hovered just above the top of the hill and the rain held off until late in the walk.

Also posted for Jo’s Monday Walk. See more responses here.

I am a week behind commenting but better late than never. Hopefully I’ll get my post up for this week tomorrow or tuesday. Great photos. I enjoy seeing where everyone lives and the parks and nature areas they enjoy.

I’m always behind. I don’t know how people find the time!

A great walk Graham. Amazed to see an Australian native, the Silky Oak in there. Hope it hasn’t taken over too much. It grows like a weed at my place, I am pulling out seedlings a lot

It’s a bit of a problem tree, but not nearly the biggest!

Plus they have good flowers for birds and the timber makes excellent furniture

I hope they make use of it here.

Although the terrain is very different from ours, we seem to have lots of plants and trees in common, Graham. I love the silky oak. I think it flowers in late summer or autumn here. Thanks so much for sharing xx

Plants have traveled the world and seem to do well anywhere so long as the growing conditions are right. The silk oak has an extended flowering time here, though I mostly see it in the spring.

This looks a wonderful area to walk, Graham! Lots of variety, greenery and wide-open spaces. I don’t often think about sheep and horses in Hawaii, but obviously there thrive there with plenty of grassland to graze. And thanks for the reminder about Jo’s walk! Have a great week!

Cattle are a huge industry here and the sheep and horses are well-established too. They’re a big part of the history. I hope you have a good week too Terri.

Love how the blue water, mountain (volcano?) and sky just blur into one, in the 1st shot
