This was all that was left of the fence in front of a gated community near Hawi after the passage of Hurricane Lala. When I saw it I immediately thought of Monty Python’s Black Knight!

Horns and hooves

The cruise ship is in
Cruise ships used to stop once a week at Kailua Kona, but these days they seem to be present three or four days a week. There’s no dock so the ships anchor offshore and ferry passengers ashore by boat.
On Tuesday I saw the Norwegian Spirit heading in. In the photo, the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor is in the foreground illustrating the difference in size!

Oleander
These Oleanders were growing at Mahukona Beach Park. They had a nice scent, but are not something to be consumed as they’re quite poisonous.

Numbered seating at the Edith Kanaka’ole Stadium in Hilo. I reckon quite a few two-ticket people attend events there!
They’re back!
I was at work when I saw this bee buzzing around at the back of the building. Surely they’re not going to start a hive inside, I thought. The bee left, but when it returned I saw it was carrying a bit of a leaf. So, not a hive, but just a Leafcutter Bee nest. Clearly, it thought the hollow tube of a handle on a piece of equipment was ideal for this purpose. It was wrong. I put a piece of tape over the entrance and when the bee returned, it flitted around a bit looking for a way in. Then it disappeared outside, not to be seen again.
