This ’Io (Hawaiian hawk) is a resident at Pana’ewa Zoo & Gardens in Hilo. Seeing birds in a cage like this is a bit depressing to me, but this is a rescue bird and, because of injuries, it would not survive long in the wild. It did at least give me the chance to see it and appreciate what a majestic bird it is.

This week’s Sunday Stills challenge theme is ‘Autumn or spring plant life.’ See more responses here. These photos were taken at Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden at this time of the year.

A couple of days ago I posted an early morning view from my house (here). This was the view the other way on the evening of that same day.

I saw this tire on a car parked outside the local Costco Tire Center. In the U.S., this kind of tire is known as a donut, a temporary tire intended to get the car to the nearest garage for a proper fix. Those labels on the wheel explain, in four languages, the limitations of this spare tire together with the speed that should not be exceeded.
Judging from the state of the tire, I suspect the driver didn’t pay too much attention to those warnings.

The view behind the house, just before making coffee!

What I like about this bench at Pana’ewa Zoo & Gardens in Hilo, is that two can sit on it.
