The road from Waimea to North Kohala is lined by trees in many places. They’re intended as wind breaks I think, but in the late afternoon light they cast strong shadows across the road.

The idea of The Numbers Game is to enter a number into the search bar of your computer and then post a selection of the photos that turn up. This week’s number is 220. Captions are on the photos. You can see more responses here.

Sriracha is one of two tigers at Hilo’s Pana’ewa Zoo & Gardens. It was a very hot day and both tigers were sheltering in the shade of a large stand of bamboo. Luckily, after a while, Sriracha ventured out of the shadows to check out us humans. She didn’t stay long. It was too hot for that.

I while back I posted (here) that next time I was in Hilo I should visit Coconut Island. Last week I was able to do just that. There’s a footbridge to reach the island, which is small and popular. There are some nice views, though the view of Hilo itself wasn’t as good as I’d hoped.

Tomorrow, I’ll run photos of one of the big attractions on the island!

A couple of days ago I posted an early morning view from my house (here). This was the view the other way on the evening of that same day.
